There is nothing better than texture-based clothing choices. This is a common characteristic among neurodivergent people, and it varies greatly from individual to individual.

Some hate denim, others don’t. Some absolutely love soft, smooth textures like leather (or its substitutes), latex, or satin, while for others, it makes no difference.

It’s not a sexual thing—at least, not in this case

Smooth-soft leather/vegan leather is a sensory pleasure for me

We are not talking about sexual arousal—not on this website. As a matter of fact, some sensory stimulations can be liminal with sex or even fetishism, but right now, we are focusing on emotional and psychological regulation in daily life.

Wearing clothes with a bad texture can be extremely bothersome, to the point of causing unnecessary stress and a bad mood. On the other hand, wearing a texture that brings sensory joy can help you feel more connected to the present and fully aware of your body.

There are good textures and bad textures, but they are different for everyone

There is no universal list of “good” textures that suit everyone—each person has their own preferences. This is why it’s important to challenge closed-minded attitudes and start exploring yourself as soon as possible. It’s a long and sometimes expensive process, but it can bring you a lot of joy, self-affirmation, and improved well-being.

Texture-based clothing is a small step toward true everyday tactile sensory stimulation.
